Life Connection of Ohio New Headquarters
Shook served as the Â鶹´«Ã½ Manager at Risk for Life Connection of Ohio’s new headquarters in Kettering, Ohio. This non-profit organization needed an expanded space to grow its life-saving work, having tripled its employees from 2020 to 2022 and increased organ donor heroes by 44% and transplants by 35% from 2020 to 2021. Their new 29,000-square-foot, two-story building replaced the 8,000-square-foot previous building that served as the headquarters for 30 years.

Completion of Otterbein SeniorLife Renovation
The Otterbein SeniorLife Renovation project is complete! The project included an upgrade to Otterbein Franklin Indiana's main dining area, bistro dining area, and kitchen. New features include a creative arts addition, social porch, and gift shop. Coordination by both parties allowed the center to remain open during the renovations for the benefit of the residents.

St. John's Medical Center 4th Floor Postpartum Ward Update
Shook recently completed the construction of the 4th Floor Postpartum Ward at the St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio. The newly renovated ward includes 15 patient rooms for postpartum care as well as four Neonatal Intensive Care suites.

Community Tissue Center Phase 1 & 2
Community Tissue Service's Center for Tissue Innovation and Research (CTIR) located in Kettering, Ohio, is one of the world's premier manufacturing facilities of skin grafts, bone grafts, dental implants and other surgical parts fabricated from tissue donors. Â鶹´«Ã½ Â鶹´«Ã½ had previously completed Phase I of CTIR in 2011,Ìýa new 94,000 SF facility thatÌýincluded research laboratories, office space and 14 cleanroom production suites. Due to immense growth, CTIR was working three shifts a day and needed additional space for expansion. Given our success on the Phase I project, Shook was selected as the Â鶹´«Ã½ Manager at Risk for their Phase II expansion.

Wayne Healthcare Expansion
Shook provided CM at Risk services for Wayne HealthCare’s 81,000 SF new patient expansion and approximately 21,000 SF of renovation space. The project included 32 new patient rooms, six LDRP rooms, two antepartum rooms, three postpartum rooms, and a C-Section room. Additionally, a new wellness area includes an open exercise room with a track and turf facilities for in-patient physical therapy along with stress rooms, a clean supply room, echo room, EKG/EEG room, and a variety of office and clerical space.

Working in Active Healthcare Environments
When working in or adjacent to operational hospital spaces, our top priority is safety—for patients, staff, and visitors. We begin every project with detailed planning sessions involving facilities management, infection control, security, department heads, and other critical stakeholders to ensure full alignment.
Key elements of our healthcare construction process include:
- Pre-Â鶹´«Ã½ Coordination: Identification of critical MEPT systems, emergency shutoffs, and utility impacts—especially for switchgear, generators, and medical gas systems.
- Infection Control & Safety: Completion of ICRA and ILSM protocols, along with the installation of dust containment systems (Starc panels, FR plastic, Zip Walls), HEPA filtration, and negative air systems before any demolition begins.
- Disruption Mitigation: Daily reviews of noise, vibration, and dust impact; six-week lookahead schedules; and Method of Procedure (MOP) documents issued for all system shutdowns.
- Communication & Monitoring: Ongoing foremen’s meetings, real-time signage for alternate routes, and visual air pressure indicators to maintain compliance and transparency.
- Emergency Preparedness: On-call labor, emergency contact lists, and after-hours shutdowns are planned in advance to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
