Healthcare Â鶹´«Ã½ With Purpose

We create healing environments.

At Shook, we understand that healthcare construction isn’t just about building facilities—it’s about supporting the healing process, protecting patient safety, and ensuring continuous care. That’s why we approach every healthcare project with precision, planning, and purpose.

In serving the healthcare sector, Shook is focused on developing spaces that improve patient care, enhance staff efficiency, and adhere to stringent safety standards. As an experienced general contractor and construction manager, we are skilled in building and renovating a range of healthcare facilities, including hospitals, outpatient centers, and medical offices. Through close collaboration with healthcare providers and design teams, we ensure that each space supports patient safety, privacy, and comfort while incorporating the latest in medical technology.

Safety Focused

Working in Active Healthcare Environments

When working in or adjacent to operational hospital spaces, our top priority is safety—for patients, staff, and visitors. We begin every project with detailed planning sessions involving facilities management, infection control, security, department heads, and other critical stakeholders to ensure full alignment.

Key elements of our healthcare construction process include:

  • Pre-Â鶹´«Ã½ Coordination: Identification of critical MEPT systems, emergency shutoffs, and utility impacts—especially for switchgear, generators, and medical gas systems.
  • Infection Control & Safety: Completion of ICRA and ILSM protocols, along with the installation of dust containment systems (Starc panels, FR plastic, Zip Walls), HEPA filtration, and negative air systems before any demolition begins.
  • Disruption Mitigation: Daily reviews of noise, vibration, and dust impact; six-week lookahead schedules; and Method of Procedure (MOP) documents issued for all system shutdowns.
  • Communication & Monitoring: Ongoing foremen’s meetings, real-time signage for alternate routes, and visual air pressure indicators to maintain compliance and transparency.
  • Emergency Preparedness: On-call labor, emergency contact lists, and after-hours shutdowns are planned in advance to ensure uninterrupted patient care.

Our healthcare teams are trained to work with precision and empathy in these highly sensitive environments. Whether expanding an emergency department or upgrading infrastructure behind the scenes, our focus is always the same: Zero disruption. Total coordination. Better care.
